Resumen

The workshop on app stores took place in Brussels at the on 6 March 2023, following the introductory remarks by the Commission, there was several panels on specific practical questions related to compliance.

The Regulation (EU) 2022/1925, Digital Markets Act, was published in the Official Journal on 12 October 2022 and entered into force on 1 November 2022. It is the first global regulation aiming to ensure fair and contestable markets in the digital sector. The Commission believes it important for all stakeholders to provide their input and views on varios implementation questions, whilst fully respecting the letter and the spirit of the Digital Markets Act.

The different panels focused particularly on topics such as in-app payment systems, steering, consumption-only apps, web-based apps, sideloading, alternative app stores and FRAND conditions of access to app stores.

Introduction by Prof. Dr. Jan Krämer and interventions by 3 panellists, followed by Q&A with audience.

Panellists: Apple, European Games Developer Federation, Open Web Advocacy.

Panel 3 - "Applying FRAND conditions of access to app stores: what practical considerations to take into account?"

Introduction by Prof. Dr. Rupprecht Podszun and interventions by 4 panellists, followed by Q&A with the audience.

Panellists: Google, Match Group, Schibsted, the App Association.
