Resumen

This article explores the expansion of wind energy in the Portuguese energy sector. Wind energy has had a tremendous development over the past five or six years in Portugal. As new countries from Eastern Europe have joined the EU, some nations of the Western part of Europe have had budget cuts and have been forced to take measures to ensure compliance with the standards set by de EU. These new entries into the EU, have had a beneficial part to play in allowing the Western European nations to look into their natural resources and find solutions in the different economic and industrial sectors.
